Session of Belarus-Vietnam commission for trade and economic cooperation to be held in 2009

A regular session of the Belarus-Vietnam commission for trade, economic and sci-tech cooperation is to be held in April 2009 in Hanoi. This decision was taken at the working meeting of the commission in Hanoi on November 3.

The participants of the meeting discussed the implementation of the agreements signed by the Belarusian and Vietnamese leaders, including those on trade and sci-tech cooperation. The meeting focused on the efficient cooperation between the cities and regions of the two countries. The sides agreed to study the possibility of signing an intergovernmental agreement on the regional cooperation between Belarus and Vietnam.

The Belarus-Vietnam commission for trade, economic and sci-tech cooperation is an important mechanism of the bilateral cooperation. The previous, sixth session was held in Minsk in September 2007. The meeting resulted in signing the protocols on the implementation of joint projects in industry, further cooperation in health care and pharmaceutics, credit and investment policy, organization of exhibitions and fairs. Many of these projects have already been implemented.

The today’s meeting was held during the visit of the Belarusian delegation composed of the representatives of municipal and oblast authorities and business circles to Hanoi. The visit was organized by the Belarusian Public Organization “Twin-Towns”, the Belarusian Embassy in Vietnam under the auspices of the Hanoi People’s Government.
