Turkey, Italy, France keen on Belarus’ light industry
Foreign investors are showing big interest in the Belarusian light industry, First Deputy Chairman of the Bellegprom Concern Vladimir Astrovsky told a press conference timed to the Day of the Workers of the Light Industry in Minsk on June 10.
Vladimir Astrovsky said that the Belarusian side has been considering projects on textile production with Turkish firms. Italian and German companies have also shown interest in cooperation with the Belarusian companies. In his words, the foreign investors are very careful at this stage. It is too early to speak about concrete projects.
According to Vladimir Astrovsky, the companies of the concern have already gained some experience in cooperating with foreign agencies in setting up joint footwear ventures. He also cited the example of the recently created joint venture in Mosty.
Vladimir Astrovsky noted that the two large companies of the concern — the Orsha Flax-Scutching Mill and the Baranovichi cotton manufacturer — will be reincorporated as open joint-stock companies in 2010.
