Alexander Lukashenko expects better political relations with Lithuania

Alexander Lukashenko hopes the political relations with Lithuania will improve under the new president. The Belarusian head of state told media on May 22, “I am greatly pleased with the fact that a young president has been elected in Lithuania, who is also a female athlete. “I think we have many points of contact,” he added.

“This is why I hope for an improvement in our relations, primarily in politics,” noted the President. “If we have any economic problems, the number is low”. The head of state reminded that Belarus uses Lithuania as a transit country, replenishing 30% of the Lithuanian budget.

“As far as politics is concerned, I am convinced that with every new person, every new team, which has many new ideas, we will come to terms,” concluded the Belarusian leader.
